An elderly man in a wheelchair was killed early this morning when he was struck by a car in Long Beach. According to the Press Telegram, the accident happened near the intersection of Orange and Alamitos Avenues. The victim has been identified as Bong Kim, 72 years old, of Long Beach, and police have indicated he entered Alamitos Avenue while attempting to cross the street. Reportedly, Kim entered the roadway suddenly from a driveway at about 6:45 a.m. when he was hit. Kim was transported to the hospital, but he eventually succumbed to his injuries while there.
